UpMark holds your money and only releases the tutor's share once the lesson actually happens. You never pay ahead for nothing.
Pick a time and pay securely in Rand by card. The amount is charged up front but held — it doesn't reach the tutor yet.
You meet your tutor online or in person. Your payment stays safely held the whole time, so it's tied to a real lesson.
Once the lesson is confirmed — your child reads out their attendance code and the tutor enters it — the held funds are released to the tutor. If nobody confirms and nobody reports a problem, they're released 7 days after the lesson. If a lesson never happens, report it within 48 hours and you're not charged for it.
None. There's no monthly fee, no joining fee and no minimum. You pay per lesson at the tutor's rate and nothing else — book weekly before finals, then stop over the holidays if you like.

You pay when you book a lesson. That payment is held securely and only released to the tutor after the lesson takes place — so you're only ever paying for lessons that actually happen.
Cancel more than 24 hours ahead and you're refunded in full. Between 12 and 24 hours, also full — we'll offer you a reschedule first. Under 12 hours we offer the reschedule first, and if you'd rather cancel, 60% comes back. Travel fees always return in full. Moving the lesson is itself free — but it doesn't reset your cancellation notice: if you reschedule and then cancel, the fee is based on whichever of your original or new lesson time gives less notice. If both are more than 12 hours away when you cancel, nothing changes for you.
No. The price you see is the price you pay. UpMark's platform fee comes out of the tutor's side of each lesson, not on top of your rate — so the R240 you see is the R240 you're charged.
South African debit and credit cards, processed securely through Paystack, in Rand only. You'll get a receipt for every lesson you pay for.
Set your own rate and hours. UpMark's fee starts at 15% and drops as you teach more — down to 11% at nine hours a week, and 9% with a five-star rating. Never more than 15%. You keep the rest of every lesson, paid out automatically after each confirmed session, or within 7 days.

Hours are averaged over the last four weeks, so your fee moves gradually rather than jumping around week to week.
A rating above 4.0★ takes up to 2 more points off, once you have taught 10 lessons — so a five-star tutor at nine hours a week pays 9%.
The fee on a lesson is fixed when it is booked. If your rate changes later, lessons already booked keep the fee they were quoted at.
